Mamanista Friday: Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm on my way to a weekend getaway with hubby and and a few friends but I wanted to stop by and wish you all a Happy Valentine's Day!!!!!

 I know a lot of folks don't like to admit that they look forward to this day or that they don't celebrate but I LOVE LOVE and anything that has to do with LOVE. So, I'm just as excited about today as I would be any holiday spending it with Family and Friends.

Church Girl Chic… Sunday's Best!

It’s been over a week since I last posted but I was on vacation and although my body was back my mind wasn’t. Like the saying goes… you ALWAYS need a vacation from vacation. I still haven’t gotten the opportunity to do my nails so this will not be my typical “Manicure Monday” blog post but I do plan on doing my nails and getting the link up either later this evening or tomorrow. So, if you have your mani ready to show-off the linky will be up soon. J

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend as I did. I will be doing a full recap of my weekend on a later post as my daughter had a costume shindig that turned out beyond amazing and I’m sure you may have saw a few pics on Instagram but I also wanted to blog about it as well.

On yesterday… I went to Church per usual on Sunday but I wanted to wear my “skater skirt” as I’ve had it for months now and the weather was perfect so I decided why not pair it with some tights and wear it to church???!!! Never in a million years would I have worn this to church back in the day and I’m sure some elder somewhere is probably eyeing me for wearing a skater skirt to church.

~ Please Don’t Judge Me... but if you must! ~

NOTE TO YOU: You can be saved, sanctified, fill with the Holy Ghost, and STILL be FLY!!!! Don’t allow the enemy to define your worth by the clothes you wear, the job you have, and the people you associate yourself with…. Everyone is equally valuable in God eyes.

Weekend WOW Moment…

My weekend was fill with surprises and excitement!

1^st things 1^st… I cut my hair for the very 1^st time in over 20 years! I have had a trim here and there but NEVER have I had a major cut like this before. I was born and raised in the South and being from the south Females are taught that you are not to cut your hair. We are raised with the thought that our hair is our CROWN and GLORY! So, this is something that I have live with. I have talked about getting it cut but NEVER really got the nerve up to actually do it.

This past Saturday I FINALLY did it!!!!!

I thought I would have to go with a “curly fro” but my stylist was able to work her magic and straighten my hair.

I had Chrys of Married 2 Makeup do my make-up

As I was feeling my new hairstyle so much I had my blog buddy Kiwi the Beauty do me a photo shoot – Here is a Sneak Peak!

She captured some AMAZING pictures that I can’t wait to share them with you all.

Some may say that it’s drastic but I don’t REGRET it and I’m GLAD I did!

I can FINALLY say that I AM FREE!!!! I thought that it would be hard to managed but in REALITY so far it actually seem easier to manage and I’m sooo happy to look in the mirror and see the NEW ME!   

Last but definitely not least… I went to Church on yesterday and it was “Youth Sunday” and the service was phenomenal. Have you ever went to Church and seems as if the message was speaking right into your LIFE?

The sermon was brought to us out of Genesis 12

~ MESSAGE ~

·         You can’t align yourself with everybody… EVERYBODY don’t want to see you blessed!!!!

·         The only ENEMY you have is in you!

I sooo needed to hear that I walked out of Church with my short haircut knowing that I was walking into my destiny…

NOTE TO YOU: You seriously have to go with what makes you HAPPY! Not everyone is going to like how you wear your hair, how you dress, or the things that you do but if it makes you HAPPY then DO YOU!!!! Nobody can be YOU but YOU!!!!

A New Year... Wordless Wednesday!

Happy New Year!!!!

I know that most bloggers did a review of their looks, people they met, and places they went as they put out a 2012 review posts. Whelp, as for me. I STILL have pics and posts in my archive that I want to share with you guys so I REALLY hope you all don’t mind me sharing these with you throughout this month. I'm started off by changing my mindset and the way that I think... So when the New Year kicked in I didn’t just say what I was going to do: I did just what I said. I don’t do New Year resolutions as I strive to be a better person daily but I do have goals and here are a few pics to give you an idea of my goals.

This lady is the very reason why I breathe…  I owe her EVERYTHING!

They say the closet you will ever get to feeling the love of GOD here on earth is feeling the love of a MOTHER!!!!! I most definitely feel his LOVE every single day through her. She’s such a blessing and I can’t imagine GOD ever thinking twice when he assigned her to be my MOTHER!!!!!

Mary Mary Reality TV Show Girls Night Out Recap

Last night I had the absolute pleasure of attending Girls Night Out for Mary Mary and viewed the Pre-screening of their new Season 2 Reality TV show at AMC Movie Theatre... Also, I apologize in advance for the clarity of the pics: these are the results using a camera phone in dimmed lighting.

Upon arrival the guest was greeted by the host/hostess with Free Popcorn, Drink, and Cake Pops!

With goodies in hand... now ready to see the Pre-screening but not before the lovely recording artist and Radio Host: Darlene Mccoy greet the guest & do trivia questions for an opportunity to win prizes.

Being that I have never watched not one episode of the 1^st Season “Gospel Reality TV” was all new to me. I was aware that they had a Reality Show but to think Gospel singers doing Reality TV… I was liked I’ll pass I mean REALLY what could they possibly have to talk about or have going on that would interest me…. LOL!!!! Humph, to my amazement I was WRONG!!!! Yeah, I can admit when I am WRONG.  The show was/is hands down very entertaining and refreshing that I can’t wait for the Season to kick-off.

  As for me growing up in a Baptist Church with a Uncle and Cousin as Ministers, Aunt(s) who sing in the choir, serve on the Motherboard, Pastoral Assistants, plays the church organ, and a praying Grandmama & Mama. Even I’ve spent most of my days in Church. I use to spend at least 2-3 days out of the week and even served on the Usher Board Missionary. So I am very familiar with the GOSPEL and I’m NO stranger to CHURCH LIFE & CHURCH FOLKS!!!!

To witness Tina & Erica of Mary Mary on Reality TV I can totally relate because some folks get it twisted and think Church folks supposed to be holier than thou and can’t make any mistakes. Sometimes people put their Ministers on a pedestal and think that he/she can do no wrong but no one that walks this earth is PERFECT!

Although, I was sooo looking forward to meeting and/or seeing Mary Mary themselves unfortunately, they could not be there but their sister/stylist "GooGoo" was there and she took pictures, answered questions and signed autographs. BTW, she’s a sweetheart and what you see on the screen is what you get!

Kudos to Mary Mary for bringing the Gospel to Reality TV and allowing viewers to take a look inside their world! Some may think that Christianity is becoming too commercialized but then again everybody is not going to like what you do and everybody don’t want to see you in your PERFECT state… souls are saved when they see your faults and know that if God did it for them he can do it for you; If one soul get saved from watching Mary Mary God will be pleased indeed. It’s not where you come from its where you’re at. Christianity is a work in progress. I’m mean I know this all too well God is STILL working on me!!!! Hmmm… I promise you I ain’t gone PREACH on this POST but I wanna go there ~ my foot is shaking and my fingers are mooooving!!!!

~ Bottom line we all have to be accountable for what we do ~ 

 I’m ‘bout ready for a Mary Mary concert cause them sisters can sannnng… I know Mary Mary songs have gotten me through a lot of rough times… So go get it; go get it GO GET YOUR BLESSING!!!! J

Note to You: If you haven’t given the show a chance go ahead and give it a try… I mean REALLY most of us have our guilty pleasures and watch Basketball Wives, Love & Hiphop, and House Wives of Atlanta, New York, & New Jersey and all the other reality shows why not give a positive show with genuine humor, family values, love, and the LOVE of God a chance.
